Thousands of objects...

The collections of the Cantonal Museum of Archaeology and History are extremely varied. There are more than 250,000 inventory numbers, representing hundreds of thousands of fragments, with many numbers being lots from excavations. Only a tiny percentage of them are displayed in the permanent exhibition rooms at the Palais de Rumine. The remaining objects are stored in the Dépôt et Abri de Biens Culturels  (Deposit and Shelter of Cultural  Goods DABC) in Lucens and in the Moudon reserves. The stone repository at the Cathedral of Lausanne is also managed by the MCAH.

A large part of the Vaud archaeology collections is located at the recognized museums of Lausanne-Vidy, Nyon and Yverdon et sa région (Yverdon and its region), where they can be seen permanently.
