Archives
The archives of the MCAH hold several thousand letters, dating from the early from 19th century to today, which make it possible to trace the history of the Museum and the historical records of certain objects from the collections.
Apart from this rich correspondence, the MCAH archives hold a large number of documents, reports and photographs related to the objects in the collections, as well as documentary files related to money. For example, there are documents concerning the excavations of the Neolithic necropolis at Chamblandes in the early 20th century and the three magnificent "Troyon Albums", consisting of watercolours of objects in the museum and elsewhere painted by Frédéric Troyon and bequeathed by his widow to the Vaud Canton in 1897.
